Florida declares state of emergency as tropical storm Ian strengthens to a hurricane as it barrels towards Cuba. and is due to lash America midweek.
Tropical Storm Ian was forecast to become major hurricane by late Monday.
Authorities in Cuba have suspended classes and will begin evacuations.
Officials in Florida have also declared a state emergency over hurricane fears.
